David MacPherson

Originally from the Highlands but now living and working in Edinburgh, David Macpherson is the Writer, Creator and Showrunner of the RTS Award nominated Prime Video UK series ‘The Rig’. Launched in over 200 territories worldwide in 2023, the environmental action thriller topped the Prime chart in the UK and many other countries for over four consecutive weeks, leading to a second series launched in January 2025. As a writer David’s work has been shortlisted for the Red Planet Prize, the All3Media New Voices Award, and has featured on the ‘Brit List’ of best unproduced UK screenplays. He was chosen as a Screen International Scottish Rising Star in 2022 and was also one of the inaugural cohort of the UK Next Generation Showrunners scheme, led by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall. 
He currently has a number of high-end drama projects in development with a range of leading UK Indies, plus his own slate of self-developed TV and feature projects.
