Sandy Thomson

Writer and Director

Sandy writes and directs for theatre and film. She has been Artistic Director of UK based theatre and narrative company Poorboy for 20 years. She creates explosive, involving and exciting works for theatres, alternative reality games, audio and visual journeys and site-specific events. She’s a Playwright Studio Scotland Award winner and mentor and a multiple nominee for the Critics Award for Theatre Scotland and Stage Award. Her work has toured across the world and her commissions include the National Theatre of Scotland, the Royal Conservatoire and Dundee Rep. She's Creative Lead at USA-based Squad Walk Films. Her first short film ‘Bangarang’ was an official selection for Canada Shorts Film Festival and her screenplay Salt Water Blood is a Nashville Film Festival winner. In her work as an advisor at Creative Entrepreneurs Club she pulls on her experience of where business meets creative practice – problem-solving, negotiating and dealing with the demands of a creative business. Her super-skills include navigating the ever changing arts landscape, wrangling funding and pitching for opportunities.
